The Swimmers Towels, Merewether Ocean Baths, Newcastle Australia
I arrived early just as a cold southerly change arrived and hurried to set up my large format camera before the scudding clouds filled the sky and covered the rising sun.
It was very cold so I was surprised when two elderly regulars walked past in their speedos and tied their tattered towels to the rusty railing.
We said hello, commented on the weather and they slowly swam off to the southern end of the pool.
I made my picture wondering if their towels would 'ruin' the scene I had pre visualised. I need not have worried...
